The Matt Cassel Experience

For all you Cassel haters, just what do you propose we do? Start Brodie?? Get real, MC will be our starter again within a game, or at most 2. Then with Brokie on IR, we have to promote Tyler Palko as our #2 and start looking at sandlots for a #3. Enough hate, already! I believe there will be some movement in the off season.

Exactly. As they always say, with teams like the Chiefs, the backup QB is the most popular guy in town. Deserved or not. Brodie isnt an answer either. We start Cassel the rest of the year. As I understand the wording on his contract, we will be able to move him without too much of a hassel at the end of this year.

Bench Bowe is correct at this point. He doesn't do enough in each game for us to be able to justify NOT benching him. People ask who will we put in there? Does it really matter? Can they do worse than what Bowe has done? Bowe has done nearly nothing! So if its somebody else it likely wont change much.

I propose we get through this year and keep playing as well as we have, then go after a QB in the draft or via a trade. Cassel was a mistake and it's time they realize it and get someone for the future. It's way past time.

RazorChief, post: 101479 Wrote:Yes, Cassel has his problems but dropped passes is not one of them. Hey, Wide Receivers, remember that the word RECEIVER is part of your job description. Cassel didn't cost us this game. Bowe poses, flexes, does all that look-at-me-crap and then DROPS how many balls? CATCH the damn ball!!

I'm with you. Hell, I'm with both sides really.

Cassel didn't lose us this game. Still, I think he's shown beyond a doubt that either he's just plain not good enough or at the very least too inconsistent to be a QB on a contending team.

That being said, we're stuck with him this season. I mean, Vazza, do you really think Brodie Croyle has better field vision? With Brodie, the only plus you're getting is arm strength with a whole slew of other questionable traits, like his skeleton constructed out of plaster of paris and the fact that he's never even won a game. Pulling Cassel for Brodie is a move we might do later in the year to get a spark if we're slipping out of the playoff race.

Cassel would have to go on a tear to convince me we don't need a new QB.

Why does it have to be one or the other?

We need better WR's AND a better QB. Inaccuracy isn't the WR's fault, and the bad TD drop wasn't Cassel. This game confirmed my belief that this team is very good outside of the passing game.

I don't think benching Cassel is the answer... I think finding a better QB in the off-season is. We just have to deal with it.

Yeah, that'll solve his accuracy issues....

Can't we just replace both in the off-season?

Bowe isn't a #1, and Cassel isn't a good QB.

Yes and yes.

Rating our team's needs right now, I'd say:
1) Quarterback
2) WR
3) OLB (Tamba needs some help, he plays his damn heart out)

God, I hope there's a season next year, because we're a couple players away from being a damn good team.

I agree with this 100%

Yea this game proved to me what I thought coming in. Some how, this defense went frombeing one of the leagues worst to a legit top 10 unit. this is the 4th game in a row we kept the opposing team to less that 20 points and did good at stopping the run. The pass rush has been vastly improved to what it has been the last couple years. I mean we did a DAMN good job of keeping Peyton Manning in check in his house. Our offensive line is a pretty solid unit. Out run game is good. But we simply have no passing game. When teams can just stack the line, its going to be tough to run consistently. Cassel holds on to ball to long and is horribly inacurate. Our WR's flippin suck and cant hold onto the ball. However, I think barring injury were stuck with Bowe and Cassel. Really, who are we going to replace Bowe with? And Croyle has had his chance.

However, if you would have told me before the year that the chiefs would be in the position they are now, I wouldnt have believed you. So I will take it. I think this team will continue to get better each week, And with the easy schedule I can see us winning the division. Going into the offseason, we NEED
1. QB!!! I dont care how, but we need to draft a QB in round 1. period.
2. WR's. And a few of them. Bowe is NOT the answer. Chambers is old, and it gets really ugly after that (with exception of Dexter)
3. NT. I think this defense still needs a legit NT to make the next step towards being a top 5 defense
4. C. Casey is playing good, but he is no spring chicken
5. OLB pass rushing specialist.

I am so frustrated with Bowe's play, but you can't bench him. Next guy up is Copper and making a move like that is some Todd Haley Year 1 type stuff. You don't bench him unless you have a better alternative.
